CENSORED.
I used to believe the hype that the bicycle industry puts out about how good their stuff is. But I got ripped off too many times.
“Bent-rider-on-line” banned me from their forum for telling the truth about the info-mercials the advertisers pay them to write.
If you can’t handle the unmitigated truth about their scams please don’t read it. What amazes me is how badly people want to believe the hype.
Note that I don’t use the words ”trendy”, “Quality” or “Value”.
AIR ZOUND HORN RIP OFF
I’ve known people to just throw these in the trash when they clog up. I tried to fix mine but could not, I took it to the shop I bought it from and they could not fix it. And when I asked for my money back they just stared at me like I must be crazy. I tried to contact the dolts that make the thing but they ignored me totally.
I found some one on one of the forums that fixed his but it was too late for me. I can only suggest that you get a large boat horn and tape it to your handlebars.
CLANDESTINE CONSPIRACY. There is not only a conspiracy to keep us addicted to fossil fuels but there is one to subvert the proper use of the words sprocket and cog, the whole bike industry is in on it. Unfortunately I can't figure out what the clandestine agenda is.
sprockets 1. Any of various tooth like projections arranged on a wheel rim to engage the links of a chain. 2. A cylinder with a toothed rim that engages in the perforations of photographic or movie film to pull it through a camera or projector.
cog 1. One of a series of teeth, as on the rim of a wheel or gear, whose engagement transmits successive motive force to a corresponding wheel or gear. 2. A cogwheel. 3. A subordinate member of an organization who performs necessary but usually minor or routine functions.
LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Some bombastic politician finally shamed the city council into forcing bicyclists to were helmets, well he had to have some sort of platform to run on, and people will believe any thing if said with a ‘preachers cant’.
The real question is how much money will it cost to keep people that can’t wear a helmet in jail!
I can’t wear a helmet because they hold the heat in so much that I can pass out from heat stroke on a hot day. And cycling is my only method of transportation.
I may have no recourse but to sew the dullard politician for misleading the public. In fact cars are the cause of the most expensive medical coasts ever (approximately 50 thousand American casualties annually).
There wouldn’t be any cyclist fatalities if bicycles didn’t have to share the roads with such deadly machines. Its not the lack of safeguards, it’s the speed of motor vehicles!!!
It seems to me that the reason photo-radar is not used in this town is simply that the local lawmakers don’t want to get caught speeding.
PRICE OF FUEL.
I can't stand to hear people whine about the price of gasoline when they should be raving about the 'true' cost of motor vehicles. The average annual cost of owning a motor vehicle is close to $6400. Yet you are still paying only a small fraction of the real cost. The war for the last of the worlds dwindling oil supplies is costing over $600 million per motor vehicle in America alone. If the 43 thousand American fatalities caused annually by cars were caused by war, American wars would become much too unpopular to wage. And who gave you the right to poison my air supply!
I can’t ride down the street with out risking my life! There are so many drivers on their cell phones they can’t see bikes. More than half of PT drivers fail to stop at cross walks. And one traffic light will not turn green for bicycles.
The biggest danger is when cars from both directions pass a cyclist at the same time on narrow roads. The driver behind the cyclist must yield to the on coming traffic, even if it means coming to a dead stop! And the only thing that the city council can do about it is to force bicyclists to wear helmets! Is it true that the politicians refuse to fund photo radar because they don’t want to get caught speeding?
Well what do you expect from a town that would rather vote them self’s a tax brake than pay for the library, they are obviously insane to begin with.
